Hormone disruption can be stressful and stress exacerbates the symptoms of menopause. This is entirely unfair! Like we need any more to handle. What I have discovered first hand from being post menopausal for ten years, is that a relaxation practice can help undo the cycles of stress, anxiety, sleeplessness and irritability.
Hormones have a hand in nearly every part of our lives, from how our bodies work, to our emotional state and even how our brains process information. In this 6 week course we’ll meet once a week online to explore relaxation practices designed to ease many of the common symptoms of menopause. These practices can also help us reconnect and refocus bringing us back to feeling more like ourselves.
Chilling Out in Menopause welcomes everyone who may have menopause on the horizon, are right in the thick of it or are post menopausal. Whether your menopause came when you expected it to, much earlier, or as a result of illness or treatment this course can be beneficial. I've based the length of this series on studies which have shown a reduction in menopausal symptoms in just 6 weeks with mindful practices.
The relaxations will include gentle restorative yoga, stretches, self massage, meditation and mindfulness. We’ll delve into issues such as panic and anxiety, libido, feeling stiff and achey, insomnia, loss of confidence, bloating and weight gain as well as some of the more unique expressions of hormonal changes.
This course is designed to feel great while providing you with a greater understanding of what your body is going through. Being around people who understand and having a toolkit of relaxation techniques means even in the midst of hormonal turmoil you can feel supported, calm and empowered.
